The inn’s New England charm makes it a picturesque destination for weddings of all sizes and styles. It features several banquet rooms and gardens, all of which serve as a charming foundation for any wedding celebration. The late 18th-century house was originally the home of Reverend Justus Mitchell and his wife, Martha. Martha was the niece of Roger Sherman, who served as a delegate at the First Continental Congress. The property was bought in the second half of the 19th century and underwent extensive renovations. It briefly became a school and inn in 1925, but following the closure of the school, the inn remained successfully in business. In 1960, it fell into the hands of Roger Sherman Ross, a descendant of the Founding Father, and was renamed after him. The 250-year-old property is now owned by Joseph and Nes Jaffre, who are committed to showcasing the inn’s history and treating guests to world-class cuisine. Featuring white siding and dark shutters, the Roger Sherman Inn exudes the quintessential New England vibe.
